Battery recycling sector

KOSCO is contributing to achieving global carbon neutrality goals.
Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a member of the Global Lighthouse Network,
we are leading the way in high-quality, sustainable manufacturing in the battery industry.

KOSCO is establishing a closed-loop system in which resources recovered through the collection, assessment, reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling of used batteries are returned to battery production.

We assess the remaining performance and safety of used batteries so that suitable batteries can be repurposed for applications such as energy storage systems (ESS). End-of-life batteries are processed through appropriate pretreatment and recycling procedures to recover critical materials such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese. By returning these recovered resources to the production of cathode active materials and other battery materials, we aim to reduce dependence on newly mined resources and minimize waste.

KOSCO conducts extensive battery recycling operations across Europe, with Spain, France, Germany, and Norway serving as its principal markets and operational bases. Through strategic cooperation with specialized companies and technology partners in each region, we are expanding a stable value chain encompassing battery collection, transportation, assessment, reuse, recycling, and the supply of recovered materials.

Building on the technologies and business experience accumulated in Europe, KOSCO has also entered the Japanese market and is establishing local partnerships and a foundation for further business development. Through these efforts, we are responding to country-specific environmental regulations and circular battery economy policies while expanding a global battery resource circulation network connecting Europe and Asia.

KOSCO is developing an integrated business model that connects battery production, use, reuse, and recycling within a single circular system. By maximizing resource value and reducing waste and carbon emissions, we will continue to contribute to global carbon-neutrality goals.
